FAQS
How does your program work?
Our programs are fully hands-on! Each of our programs is faciliated by two educators that start with animal handling and safety rules. Children use hand signals that we teach them to indicate their level of comfort with the animals. We bring each animal around allowing them to touch and hold the animals gently and safely. We ask children to sit cross legged in a half circle on the ground for our program to insure the safety of our animal ambassadors, as many are much smaller than we are.
Guests will learn about each critter, review animal biology and scientific concepts while meeting each animal ambassador. Each guest can touch and hold as they feel comfortable.
We’ve worked with every age group from preschool to senior centers and tailor the program to fit your needs.
What animals do you bring?
We bring 6 different reptiles from across the world which will include snakes, lizards and a tortoise.
The exact animals that come depend on the age of the guests, which reptile is shedding, feeding schedules, as well as the weather the day of the program if it is an outdoor event. You can see our animal ambassadors here.
If there's a specific animal or group of animals that you're excited about, we can make sure to bring those and focus the program based on your interests.
Do the animals bite?
No. Most of our animal ambassadors were previously pets that their owners could no longer care for, so they are animals that have always lived in captivity and are comfortable with humans. We spend months, often years working with each individual animal before they become animal ambassadors, ensuring that we understand each individuals temperment, habits and behavior, as each animal has a unique personality.
Each program begins with animal safety & proper handling rules to endsure that your guests and our animal ambassadors are always safe. We work very hard to provide a safe space for everyone.
Can the program be outside?
Yes with shade. Reptiles are don't make their own body heat, so on cold days indoor is ideal.
